The Shang Shung Institute of Americas School of Tibetan Medicine, founded by Chogyal Namkhai Norbu ten years ago, is seeking funding to complete the transcription of its medical program commentaries. The immediate goal is to provide a series of commentaries in English for the SSI School of Tibetan Medicine. The Four Medical Tantras have been the primary teaching texts for training Tibetan physicians from ancient times to the present. Students have thusfar have been learning Tibetan and receiving verbal teachings on the subject. The longer term goal is to make the Shang Shung Institute's commentaries on these teachings more readily available internationally.
Tibetan Medicine is an holistic and complete medical system that benefits sentient beings by providing enlightened medical care for acute and chronic conditions, and for the prolongation of life. The Shang Shung Institutes School of Tibetan Medicine is the first program of its kind in the West.
